Before Avatar: The Last Airbender, there was Samurai Jack, which pioneered the American-cartoon-with-anime-influences-kinda genre.
Man, Toonami was awesome, wasn’t it? This delicious art by Jeffrey ‘Chamba’ Cruz is just bringing it aaalllllllll back.
Kelly Li has put her art skills to use mashing the years of Avatar the Last Airbender and the era of Legend of Korra to create this fascinating tableau of Azula as Korra’s fire bending teacher. Intriguing concept, no?

Tumblr artist Ellsie has contrasted beautifully the contrast of Korra’s water bending and Mako’s fire bending yet doesn’t fail to highlight the powerful undercurrent in each.

It’s TV Show Monday!
As the only main character not endowed with bending capabilities, Sokka is one of the more dynamic characters on Avatar: The Last Airbender. And I love him because I too have relied on sarcasm, devilish good looks, and poetry to fight my battles.
The glorious Christian Nauck has depicted Sokka’s determination to better himself by mastering swordsmanship under Piandao’s tutelage.

I am such a huge fan of Mei-ing Nieuwland’s playful yet bold art style — especially when she devotes her talents to Avatar: The Last Airbender fan art.
Blue-Ten (who is also on Tumblr) created a portrait for each of the main characters of Avatar: The Last Airbender demonstrating each person’s two sides:
These pictures attest not only to the show’s incredible ability to create complex characters, but to Blue-Ten’s remarkable ability to capture that complexity.

Mei-ing Nieuwland put together this wonderfully intense piece of art for what both she and I consider the best season of the show: the third.
